Your challenge, if you choose to accept it, is to write an essay on the topic Let’s Get Weird for Jesus.
From the book of Acts onward, radical Christians have been weird. They’re just absurd, foolish even—doing things differently than the world around them. We want you to address how the church can and should be weird in the modern Western world. What are we doing well? How can we improve?
We’ll be looking at both the content of your essay (what you say), and the quality (how you say it). You can approach the topic however you’d like, but we’d love to see some creativity.
Your entry may be as short as it needs to be, but may not be longer than 3,000 words.
The winner of this contest will be featured on the SOKW website and social media, and receive a $100 Amazon gift card. Runner-up takes home any one item of their choice from the SOKW store.
You do not need to be an expert theologian to participate. We’re looking for essays that connect with everyday Americans.
Give it a shot! You have nothing to lose.
Please include your contact information in your email. Please type your manuscript in a legible font (like arial, Times New Roman, etc.). The maximum word count is 3,000 words.
Who can participate? Anyone. The contest is open to writers of all ages and experience levels. You may live anywhere in the world, but you must be in the United States to receive physical prizes.
Who will judge? The SOKW team will select a winner by March 15, 2021.
What do you win? The winner will receive bragging rights, recognition for their accomplishment, and a $100 Amazon gift card.
Runner-up will receive recognition and one item of their choice from the SOKW store. (Must reside in the United States)
