Classes Starting Fall 2021

Welcome, potential student! We’re so glad you’re here, and we love it when excited writers reach out to us to learn more.

This program is open to adults of all ages and backgrounds. If you’re sold out for Jesus and aspire to be a novelist, blogger, YouTuber, podcaster, or social media influencer, you’re in the right place.

Our first full-time class will begin in the fall of 2021. We will begin accepting applications in the fall of 2020 for this first class.

This is a full-time, intensive, on-site training program. Students will need to relocate to Zanesville, Ohio, for the duration of the 2-year program.

Student Qualifications

We are not interested in the degrees, certifications, or credentials that you’re bringing with you. Our only goal is to identify twelve students with potential to be effective writers to influence the American media.

We will complete that process through an application, one or more interviews (in-person or online video chat), and by looking at the applicant’s writing samples. We are not looking for polished work in the writing samples, but rather for potential. Our selection committee will rely on prayer and discernment, asking the Holy Spirit to identify the individuals who will most benefit from this program and impact Americans for Jesus.

This program is open to writers of all ages and backgrounds. We would love to see a diverse body of students.

The best way to prepare to apply for the School of Kingdom Writers is to spend time reading and writing.

Program Expectations

Creative Writing CurriculumThis program will feel more like working for a creative agency than going to school. This is a vocational program, which means it is learning by doing. Students will produce short stories, essays, blog posts, advertising copy, novel-length work, and more. Students will generally be working on-site for a nine-to-five workday, five days per week.

Students will retain the rights to their work and can expect to leave the program with a catalog of materials ready to sell, and in some cases will publish work during the term of the program.

Part of being a successful writer in today’s media market is the development of a platform or audience. Students, with guidance and oversight, will create personal brands and develop their audiences.

We’re not just teaching students how to write. We’re teaching students how to do the work of being a writer. They’ll leave this program ready to step into an independent or conventional writing career.

Housing & Residence

Students will need to be in Zanesville, Ohio, for the duration of the 2-year program.

We do not provide housing on our campus. However, we are happy to place students in groups for shared housing and intentional community. Students are also welcome to secure their own housing, but we encourage unmarried students without children to take advantage of the opportunity to grow in intentional community (living in a shared house with other students).

Tuition & Expenses

We are targeting a tuition cost of $7,200 per year. This number is not yet finalized. Note that this is a year-round program, with four two-week breaks over the year.

Students will be responsible for their own living expenses. Students will have access to a kitchenette at our facility.
