We received so many amazing submissions to our April writing contest. Thank you to everyone who took a risk and submitted their work for consideration. We had a lot of fun reading them.

Take a moment right now to enter our May Writing Contest. We want your stories on the theme: A House Divided. And don’t forget to subscribe to our newsletter (click here), so that you don’t miss any future opportunities.

Our team of judges looked at the quality of the prose, the organization of the story, and the creativity.

The theme for April was “Kingdoms at War.” We challenged writers to write a story about opposing forces at war, internal or external.

The winner of April’s writing contest is Jenni Meade for her short story, “Stalled Out.”

Jenni wrote an intriguing, evocative story with a narrator we’ve never seen before. In just 1600 words, she captured out attention and left us wanting to read it again. We’ll post it to our website soon so that you can read it too!

Well done, Jenni! You’ve won the $100 Amazon gift card, and we’ll feature your short story and biography on our website and podcast soon.

The runner-up is Lyman B. Riegel for his story titled “The Propheticon Speaks.” Lyman’s story was creative, funny, well-written, and thought-provoking.

Great writing, Lyman! You’ve won the item of your choice from the School of Kingdom Writers Bonfire store.

HONORABLE MENTION: We’d also like to mention the work of Abby Bales. Abby’s story was well-written, well-developed, and a perfect fit for our theme.

Thank you to all who entered this writing contest. It was a tremendous pool of submissions. We hope that you’ll submit again this month as we open up a new topic.
