Your challenge is to write a piece on the theme Radicalized. This month you can write anything you want—short story (fiction or creative non-fiction), essay, poem.

How many Americans are Christians? They acknowledge the divinity of Jesus and that he’s their source of salvation. But a minority of those Christians are ready to give up everything for their faith.

For some, Jesus becomes everything. We decide that there is nothing of higher value.

What makes us radicalize? What makes us decide that nothing else matters?

How did you get there? If you’re not there, what’s stopping you? Tell us about it. Let’s get real.

In America, we usually here the word “radicalized” in reference to Islamic jihadists. Terrorists give up their lives, their families, their ethics—everything—for the cause.

To be radicalized for Jesus will never lead us to violence. But are we called to give up any less? Did Jesus not tell us that we’ll give up our very selves to follow Him?

So tell us a story about yourself, or make up a story about someone else. Write an essay or a poem. Why do some people radicalize for Jesus? Why do others not? Is this line of thinking totally out of bounds? Show us your answer on the page.
