Residence and Student Housing
Students will need to live in Zanesville, Ohio, for the duration of the two-year program, or within commuting distance.
We do not provide dormitories or on-campus housing. However, we are happy to help students arrange low-cost housing, either individually or with roommates of the same gender.
Students are welcome to secure their own housing, but we encourage students without children to take advantage of the opportunity to grow in intentional community—living in a shared house with other students.
Shared Housing Opportunities
If you are interested in living in a house with other students of the same gender, please let us know. We will place you together in a large house near the School of Kingdom Writers (SOKW).
SOKW does not own these houses; we simply work with students and a local landlord to facilitate a good connection.
In most cases, students will be able to find housing, complete with all utilities, for $300 per month or less.
SOKW will work with students to establish “house rules.” Students may choose to contribute to a common grocery budget or share other expenses, but this will be determined by the students, with guidance from SOKW staff.
Living with other students may be challenging, but it’s also an excellent opportunity to grow in your spiritual development, and it will be the experience of a lifetime!
Individual Housing
If you are moving to Zanesville, Ohio, and would like to live alone, our staff and volunteers will help you to find a suitable apartment or home in which to live.
We’ll work with you to understand your needs and budget and provide as much (or as little) help as you would like. We’re here to support you and to make your transition as smooth as possible.
Community Life
There’s so much more to life than just a house! You’ll find so much community within the student body at the School of Kingdom Writers, but we also encourage students to branch out into the local community.
The School of Kingdom Writers is connected to a variety of churches and Christian faith communities in Zanesville, Ohio. We’ll be delighted to connect you with a body of believers that you’ll feel comfortable with.
You’ll also find an abundance of local groups and recreation opportunities to connect with.
